As a doula, I’ve accompanied and supported numerous pregnant Moms through their labouring journey to childbirth. It’s been exhilarating and a true honour to be an integral part of every birth.
I’ve experienced the miracle of childbirth in so many different environments and birth settings. From literally “catching the baby” on the floor of a government hospital corridor as the labouring mother managed to crawl out of the bathroom, to witnessing the perfect birth of a baby in a birthing tub of a beautiful family birthing centre. The birthing room was softly lit with candles and the gentle voice of Tori Kelly serenaded the baby into the world with her rendition of John Burkes’ song, “Hallelujah”.
My coaching experiences have proved beyond doubt, that regardless of the birth environment, if the labouring Mom is prepared for birth in her mind, body and spirit, she’ll be an incredible source of power in the birthing room, and she’ll have a beautiful birth experience.
